A man has been charged with eight offences after a car collided with a taxi.

Salvatore Cinti was arrested shortly after the crash, which happened in the early hours of February 19.

It is alleged the Ford Focus he was driving crashed into a Skoda Octavia taxi operated by Royal Cars on Newport Road, Middlesbrough at 2.35am.

The 37-year-old has been charged with eight offences.

They are:

  •  affray,
  • causing serious injury by dangerous driving,
  • driving without a licence,
  • driving without insurance,
  • possession of an offensive weapon in a public place,
  • assault
  • possession of identity documents with intent

Cinti appeared at Teesside Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, March 7, and was remanded to appear at Teesside Crown Court on Thursday, April 4, 2019.
