A man from the United States has allegedly carjacked an unsuspecting driver in the CBD overnight, only to crash the vehicle a short time later.

It will be alleged the man jumped into the backseat of a Toyota sedan while it was traveling east on North Tce about 1.50am on Wednesday.

When the driver stopped, the suspect booted him from the car and drove off, police say. The driver had minor injuries.

The 28-year-old was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital for a check-up before going to the City Watch House where he was charged with aggravated robbery.

After being refused bail, he will appear in court today.

Separately, a property in Adelaide's north was broken into some time between 11.30am and 1.30pm on Tuesday.

Police say a large amount of jewelry was stolen — but it wasn't just sparkly earrings and chains the thief had their eye on.

Also stolen from the Northgate property was a 2016 Lexus RC F, which police say is believed to be the only car of this make and model in the entire state.

According to pricing available on the Lexus website, a new RC F is worth at least $147,000.

It was found just after 10pm on Tuesday in the nearby suburb of Hillcrest after a member of the public, who saw SA Police's Facebook post, informed police of its whereabouts.
