No one is going to go see Nick Offerman based solely on his work on the bizarre short-lived cartoon “Axe Cop.” Sure, some fans might only know the actor as the mustachioed libertarian Ron Swanson of “Parks and Rec,” and others might want to see him live because of his uplifting presence on the craft show “Making It,” but no one, outside of myself, would go solely to see if the deep-voiced Illinois native would stand on stage and utter the line, “Babies are dumb.”

And Offerman, 48, almost definitely won’t utter that line on his All Rise Tour, a mixture of comedy, lecture and dance designed to encourage people to “aim higher in life than the channels of consumerism would have us imagine,” according to a press release. More than likely, the veteran woodworker and author of “Paddle Your Own Canoe” and “Gumption” is going to deliver a hilarious diatribe about finding one’s better self.

Still, if you’ve never heard him say, “Babies are dumb,” it’s worth it.

Nick Offerman will perform at Hard Rock Live in Universal CityWalk on Dec. 5. Tickets, $39.75-$59.75, go on sale Friday, March 22. Details at hardrock.com.
