The 2.8 magnitude earthquake hit on Thursday North Korean nuclear test site close to its Punggyeri nuclear test site in the northeast of the country, The Korean Herald reported.

The quake struck at 4:41 am at a depth of about 10 km. The last such explosion was carried out in Punggyeri in September 2017.

Last May, the North Korean authorities announced the dismantling of the landfill as a voluntary measure of denuclearization, and in the presence of foreign journalists blew up the tunnels and buildings on it.
