'Brilliant again': Fans full of praise for 'underrated' Memphis Depay as Holland star scores twice in 4-0 win over Belarus... and some want to see him back in the Premier League

  • Memphis Depay was the star of the show as Holland defeated Belarus 4-0
  • The former Manchester United man scored two and assisted the other two
  • Fans were quick to praise the forward, with many wanting him back in England
  • Depay is still plying his trade in Ligue 1 with Lyon, who sit in third place

Memphis Depay was the star of the show as Holland ruthlessly took apart Belarus, playing a role in each of the four goals as the Oranje emerged 4-0 victors.

Depay bagged a brace and assisted a further two, as the Dutch side went about continuing to prove it is bang in form.

After failing to qualify for the Russia World Cup, the Holland team has dusted itself down and returned stronger - thanks in large part to the form of Depay.

The ex-Manchester United man is now one of the first names on the team-sheet for manager Ronald Koeman.

After leaving Old Trafford, Depay sought to resurrect his career in French football by making the move to Lyon.

He recently featured at Barcelona's Nou Camp, as Lyon were eliminated from the competition at the last 16 stage.

Depay's Holland spectacle led many fans to call for his return to the Premier League.

One user took to Twitter to express his opinion: 'Sign him LFC! #hollandconnection' in relation to Depay's assisting of Virgil van Dijk.

'I'd take him over Sanchez any day', wrote another, keen to see the tricky forward back in the red of United.

Depay now has further opportunity to increase his stock on Sunday, when Holland host Germany in a UEFA Euro 2020 qualifying clash.

The two sides will do battle at the John Cruyff Arena, with kick-off set for 7.45pm.
