MUZAFFARPURuzaffarpur/Bhagalpur: Armed miscreants looted over Rs43 lakh in two separate incidents in the state on Monday.
In Muzaffarpur, two bike-borne armed criminals allegedly snatched at gunpoint the bag containing Rs29 lakh from a Samastipur-based cash collection agency employee near Madhaul Bridge under Turki outpost of the Kurhi police station area in the district around 2pm.
The employee, Nirbhay Kumar, was going on his bike to the Club Road branch of State Bank of India under Mithanpura police station of the town to deposit the cash collected from Reliance petrol station at Madhaul under Turki OP.
SSP Manoj Kumar said, “Some people have been detained on the statement of Nirbhay. But I cannot disclose the identity of those people as Nirbhay’s statement seems dubious and we are also quizzing him.”
IG Nayyar Hasnain Khan said he was personally looking into the matter. “I have asked the SSP to depute an SDPO-rank officer to investigate the case. He will lead the team from Turhi OP,” he said.
An FIR has been lodged against two named and some anonymous people under different sections of IPC.
In another incident, armed criminals looted Rs14.29 lakh from the employees of Sai Baba LPG Agency situated at KB Lal Road in Nathnagar at Bhagalpur around 11.00am. The incident occurred near Sanskrit College under the University police station area.
Gas agency manager Sanjay Kumar Lal and its employee Rajesh Kumar Sinha were going on a two-wheeler to deposit the cash in the Bank of Baroda branch near Marwari Pathsala school. As they reached near Sanskrit College, a bike dashed against their two-wheeler. The gas agency employees fell down and armed criminals snatched the bag full of cash. City SP Sushant Kumar Saroj, DSP Rajvansh Singh and University police station SHO Omprakash Kumar were investigating the case.
