LUCKNOW: Former UP BJP spokesperson
IP Singh was expelled from the party on Monday for praising SP chief
Akhilesh Yadav’s decision to contest
Lok Sabha election from Azamgarh. Singh had also offered his
Azamgarh home to Akhilesh to be used as office during polls.
UP BJP spokesperson HC Srivastava said Singh has been expelled for six years for ‘anti-party activities’. On Sunday, Singh had tweeted saying that Akhliesh Yadav’s announcement had sent a wave of happiness in east UP and added:“aapke aane se Poorvanchal ka vikas hoga...jaati aur Dharma ki Rajneeti ka ant hoga (your entry will take east UP on the path of progress and end politics of caste and religion).” “Mujhe khushi hogi yadi mera awas bhi aapka chunav karyalay bane,” the tweet further read.
After his expulsion, Singh lashed out at the BJP saying that the democratic set up of the party has been bulldozed and speaking the truth was forbidden.
In a series of tweets against the BJP, Singh said the party does not need a ‘karyakarta’ but a ‘manager’ like UP BJP organisational secretary Sunil Bansal.
Singh had earlier courted controversy when he prefixed ‘usooldar’ (principled) instead of ‘chowkidar’, which was used by other BJP leaders, to his name on twitter handle.
