A Melbourne man missing in the city’s east overnight has been found following a police and SES search.

Bayswater North man Michael Johnson, 52, was spotted at Mitcham station about 11am yesterday.

He was thought to have been seen near the Warburton Rail Trail later that day but this sighting was not confirmed, police said.

But Mr Johnson was found this morning, hours after police announced a search with SES crews at Lilydale — near Anderson Street and the Warburton Rail Trail — the area of yesterday’s unconfirmed sighting.

Officers also released an image of the 52-year-old in the hopes someone would recognise him.

His family had been worried because Mr Johnson suffers from a medical condition which requires regular medication.

He was described as caucasian with a medium build, and wearing glasses, brown shoes, blue pants and a brown/grey top.
