Why the story of Hitler's last food taster became an obsession for Rosella Postorino

When Rosella Postorino heard the real-life story of Margot Wölk, she knew it had to become a novel.

When she was in her 90s, Wölk revealed to a German newspaper that she had been a food taster for Hitler in in Nazi Germany, eating meals prepared for the dictator to make sure they weren't poisoned.

The story became an obsession for Postorino, who eventually wrote At the Wolf's Table.

Postorino is a bestselling Italian author. This is her first novel to be translated in to English.
