Amit Shah files nomination papers for Gandhinagar Lok Sabha seat

BJP president Amit Shah on Saturday filed his nomination papers from Gandhinagar constituency for the Lok Sabha elections. Before filing the nomination, Shah addressed an election rally, followed by a roadshow. Expressing deep gratitude to the BJP, Shah said that he will be left with a 'zero' if association with the party is taken away from his life.

NEW DELHI: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah on Saturday filed his nomination papers from Gandhinagar constituency for the Lok Sabha elections.
Shah, who is a Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament (MP), will contest the Lok Sabha elections for the first time. He has been fielded from Gandhinagar constituency, which is currently held by BJP veteran LK Advani.
Before filing the nomination, Shah addressed an election rally, followed by a roadshow.


Expressing deep gratitude to the BJP for making him what he is today, Shah said that he will be left with a 'zero' if association with the party is taken away from his life.
"If BJP is taken away from my life, only 'zero' will be left. Whatever I have learnt and given to the country all belongs to the BJP," Shah said while addressing a rally at Naranpura area of Ahmedabad, prior to filing his nomination. Advani was not present at the rally.

"Lal Krishna Advani and Atal Bihari Vajypayeeji were MPs from Gandhinagar. I am glad that I have got an opportunity to become MP from the same constituency. BJP is a party with ideology. It is a party, which is moving forward on the principles of Deen Dayal ji," he added.
Talking about the good works done by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the last five years, the BJP chief said: "Today, people have a question who will provide security to the country. Only Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the BJP and NDA government can provide security to the country."
Before filing nomination, Shah paid tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, followed by a roadshow from DRH Regency hotel to Patidar Chowk in Ghatlodia area.
Home minister Rajnath Singh, former chief minister of Punjab Parkash Singh Badal, minister of road transport and highways Nitin Gadkari, railways minister Piyush Goyal, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray, Lok Janshakti Party president Ram Vilas Paswan and BJP's national general secretary Ram Lal were also present at the rally. Shah's son Jay Shah was also present at the 'Vijay Sankalp Sabha'.
Polls for 26 Lok Sabha seats in Gujarat will be held in a single phase on April 23. The counting of votes will take place on May 23.
