Tirupati: A homeless person in his late 30s was bludgeoned to death with a stone allegedly by another person after a quarrel broke out between them over money. The incident took place near the Railway Parcel House under the east division police limits in Tirupati, during the wee hours on Monday.

According to circle inspector M. Chandrababu Naidu, the police was informed around 3 am on Monday about a person lying unconscious in a pool of blood near the Railway Parcel Office. On reaching the spot, the police found the body of a man with injuries on head and face. It was found that he had no residential address in Tirupati and was living as a vagabond. A case was registered and further investigation is underway, Mr Naidu said.

The police later apprehended a person named Ramana, who is also a vagabond, and recovered the blood stained stone which was allegedly used for the murder.

“During investigation, we found that the man was sleeping on the footpath when Ramana came there and searched for money in his pockets.”
