Lok Sabha polls 2019: Ready to lead nation, says K Chandrasekar Rao

TRS president says India tired of Congress and BJP rule.

Peddapalli: The people are vexed with both Congress and BJP governments which have ruled the country for many years. Nothing good will happen to the people or the nation if Mr Rahul Gandhi or Mr Narendra Modi wins in the Lok Sabha elections, said TRS president and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekar Rao at a public meeting held at Godavarikani here on Monday.

Addressing a massive gathering, Mr Rao alleged that if people give power to either the Congress or the BJP, only the names of the projects and schemes will change, but they will be of no use to the nation.

Comparing coal workers to soldiers, Mr Rao said the TRS government passed a resolution in the Assembly for removing tax on workers of coal mines and has sent it to the Central government, but the Prime Minister ignored it.

“The country has plenty of resources, but the rulers do not know how to utilise them. There is a need to bring certain revolutionary changes in the nation and someone should take the lead to bring such changes. I am ready to take the responsibility,” he said.

Mr Rao challenged Mr Modi for an open debate on the utilisation of water resources across the nation and asked him about how much power was utilised across the country when 3.5 lakh MW of power is generated.

Mr Modi himself is unable to give 24 hours of power supply to his own state, Gujarat. Telangana state is the only state that is supplying 24 hours of uninterrupted power, Mr Rao said.

Instead of answering these questions, the Opposition was raising personal issues and alleging that the Chief Minister was sentimental and believed in astrology, he said. “Apart from that, they are trying to blackmail me and are threatening me, but KCR will never fear for such things,” Mr Rao said.

He said the Reserve Bank of India has Rs 13 lakh crore and Maharathna Company has Rs 12 lakh crore. “What is that money meant for? Instead of utilising that money in a proper way, they are concentrating on useless things,” he alleged.

People have lost faith in both Congress and BJP, and that is why they were not showing up at public meetings organised by these two parties, Mr Rao said.

The TRS government was determined to ensure all-round development of Peddapalli Lok Sabha segment, the Chief Minister said. He also promised a medical college at Ramagundam and making Chennur a revenue division.
