AAJ polls unite Left, Right in JNU

NEW DELHI: The Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) alumni elected its 4th Alumni Association of JNU (AAJ)-Executive Council (for 2019-21) on Sunday amidst a keenly contested elections.
Rajesh Kumar and Binod Kumar Singh were declared elected for the president and vice-president posts respectively. Dhiraj Kumar Singh, Shadab Ahmad Khan and Krishna Nand Maharaj were elected unopposed for the post of gen secretary, joint secretary & treasurer respectively.

"I won on the promises of making AAJ a truly apolitical platform, which will be neither aligned to Left nor to Right," said the newly-elected AAJ president Rajesh Kumar.
Binod Kumar, vice-president of AAJ said, "I made it to vice-president post because of my vision of making the country's premier institution more vibrant and inclusive."
The results were announced by the 3-member Central Election Committee (CEC)-AAJ led by Bhargav Mitra on Sunday late night after the polling concluded at 5 pm.
Counting took lots of time as the voting was done also to elect 6 out of 7 candidates for Executive Committee. Dr Braj Bihari Singh, Dr Etee Bahadur, Dr Madan K Yadav, Dr Maheep, Dr Poonam Kumari & Sujit Kumar, an IRS Officer were decalred elected.
True to its reputation, JNU saw almost a paper-less campaign. Candidates resorted to online campaign on what's app and mails, for top two posts of president and vice-president.
