37 cases against Delhi politicians since January 2010

In Southwest district, a total 19 cases were registered against the politicians in which nine cases were reported in 2015.

New Delhi: The Delhi police has registered 37 cases against the politicians of various parties in the national capital from January 2010 to December 2018. According to the data provided by the Delhi police, these politicians belong to all major political outfits, which includes BJP, Congress and Aam Aadmi Party. The politicians were booked for violating the law and order, carrying illegal arms etc, and involved in other unlawful activities. Those include some union ministers, deputy chief ministers and MLAs, apart from some ex-MPs and ex-MLAs.

According to the data provided by the Delhi police, in Shahdara district total nine cases were registered against the politicians such as Union minister and BJP leader Dr Harsh Vardhan, Delhi deputy chief minister and AAP leader Manish Sisodia, former Congress MP J.P. Aggrawal, rebel AAP leader Kumar Vishwas, Sarita Singh (AAP), Vipin Sharma (Congress), Sunita Kumari (BSP), Jitender Singh Shanti (Independent), Ram Nivas (AAP), Mukesh Hudda (AAP) and Neema Bhagat (BJP) in Vivek Vihar, Mansarover Park and Geeta colony police stations between January 2010 to December 2018.

In Southwest district, a total 19 cases were registered against the politicians in which nine cases were reported in 2015. The police data shows that in 2012 only one leader was booked, in 2013 the figure was two, while in 2014 the number increased to four. In 2017, only 1 politician was booked by the police. These cases were registered in Palam village, Sararpur, Delhi Cantt, Vasant Vihar and RK Puram police stations that come under the Southwest district.

The crime branch also booked sitting MLA of AAP Naresh Balyan under the Excise Act after recovery of huge haul of illicit liquor from a godown at Kabari Bazar road in Uttam Nagar on January 31, 2015.

He has been charesheeted in the case without arrest, stated the Delhi police data. Another sitting MLA of AAP was booked twice by Delhi police in southeast district. He was book in two different cases in 2016 at Govindpuri police station.
