Demand to arrange ballot paper voting in Nizamabad, Independents protest

Nizamabad: The allotment of election symbol to 178 independent candidates for Nizamabad Parliamentary Constituency is proving to be a tough job for Election Commission.

In this constituency, 185 candidates are contesting, out of them, 178 are independent candidates. Most of them are farmers who filed their nominations as a protest against the TRS government for not announcing a support price for turmeric, pulses and jowar.

It may be mentioned that earlier, Election Commission had declared that in case there are more than 90 candidates, polling would be arranged through ballot papers but later, it changed its policy.

It is reported that TRS is afraid of ballot paper voting as it may lead to its failure.

In order to save KCR’s daughter from meeting with defeat, the Election Commission was persuaded to conduct polling through voting machines.

Independent candidates told that they have no faith in electronic voting machines. They also complained that election symbols have not yet been allotted to them.
