UP: 6-year-old girl trapped in 60 ft borewell since 2 days, rescue operation continues
AGRA: More than 48 hours have passed, but a six-year-old child is still trapped in the 60-foot-deep borewell at a village in UP's Farrukhabad district, but the rescue operations continue on war footing.
On Wednesday afternoon, Seema - a resident of Rashidpur village of Kamalganj police jurisdiction situated near Ganga riverbed - plunged into one feet wide borewell, which had been dug up by a group of labourers hired by her uncle Suresh Chandra for installation of a submersible water jet pump.
The girl has now gone down up to 40 feet from the initial depth of 25 feet.

Seema lives with her uncle Suresh Chandra's family, as her father died a couple of years back and her mother Urmila is mentally weak who cannot take care of the kid alone.
Speaking to TOI, Farrukhabad superintendent of police Anil Kumar Mishra said, “We have spread our rescue operation area and are now using heavy earth excavator to dig deep and rescue the girl. The army, NDRF and SDRF teams are working continuously to bring back the girl.”
Kamalganj station house officer Pradeep Kumar Singh on Thursday had claimed that there was no proper security measure around the borewell. Labourers had gone away for lunch leaving the well uncovered, and Seema who was playing around the house fell into it.
Chief medical officer of Farrukhabad Dr Chandra Shekhar told TOI that the girl might be under hypoxia. That’s why she oxygen supply is being maintained in the borewell.
He said, “We are not sure, as what’s the exact condition of the kid. We haven’t heard any sound of her since Thursday afternoon. Once she is taken out from the borewell by rescue team, our standby team will examine her condition. Meanwhile, oxygen supply is being maintained - though we haven’t been able to provide water or food to the girl as we cannot reach her.”
