BJP nominee files papers in Darbhanga
DARBHANGA: BJP candidate Gopaljee Thakur, who filed his nomination papers for Darbhanga parliamentary constituency on Friday, said the wind was blowing in favour of PM Narendra Modi in the country and he would win the election by a huge margin. Darbhanga will go to polls in the fourth phase on April 29.
Accompanied by a large number of BJP workers and town MLA Sanjay Sarawagi, Thakur first offered prayers at the local Shyama temple.
He then addressed an election meeting at Karpoori Chowk here before proceeding to the collectorate to file his nomination papers. People accompanying Thakur were seen raising slogans in support of PM Narendra Modi.
Thakur started his political career by joining AVBP in his student years. He was the district president of BJP from 2003 to 2007. In 2010, he successfully fought assembly election from Benipur constituency on a BJP ticket.
Later in the day, the BJP held an election rally at DMCH playground. It was addressed by BJP national vice-president and former CM of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Bihar deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi, road construction minister Nand Kishore Yadav and Hukumdeo Yadav, among others. BJP candidate from Madhubani constituency Ashok Yadav was also present.
Six nomination papers rejected in Khagaria: Six nomination papers for Khagaria parliamentary constituency were rejected after scrutiny on Friday. According to district election office sources, the papers of Ram Balak Yadav, Kamal Paswan, Amarji Mahto, Santosh Kumar, Yugeshwar Chaurasiya and Ruchi Singh – all independents – were rejected. With this, 20 candidates are now in fray for the Khagaria seat.
