Christian wholeness, wellness retreat

A Christian wholeness and wellness retreat, focused on time, stress and relationship transformation, will be presented by Karl A. Schultz, from 9 a.m. to noon Sunday, April 14, at Port Orange Family YMCA Healthy Living Center, 4701 City Center Parkway.

Schultz is a widely published author on biblical spirituality, pastoral care, human potential fulfillment and wellness.

Retreat topics include wellness dispositions, limitations, awareness, presence, journaling, balance, levity, leisure, the sanctity of rest, holistic spiritual reading and Christian conflict resolution principles, forgiveness, let go and let God, discernment, living the Serenity Prayer, redemptive. Discussion will consider little victories achieved and attainable in our communal journey to wholeness and peace amid brokenness.

Mystical mediation discussion

Super-Conscious Meditation: The Key to Enlightenment will be discussed from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 12 at the Andrew Jackson Davis Building, 1112 Stevens St., Cassadaga.

Spiritual discipline to be discussed

Daytona Beach Lifetree Café

A glimpse into marriages suffering from intimacy anorexia will be shown at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, April 7, at Lifetree Café, 142 Fairview Ave., Daytona Beach.

The program, titled "Intimacy Anorexia: The Dark Secret That's Killing Marriages," features a filmed interview with Dr. Douglas Weiss, a licensed psychologist and an expert in the field of Intimacy Anorexia.

Weiss explains Intimacy Anorexia is the intentional withholding of emotional, spiritual and sexual intimacy from one's spouse and is a condition that affects both men and women.

"A common symptom is being married to someone, but feeling like you have a roommate more than a spouse," he says. "If you feel married and alone, you're probably married to someone with intimacy anorexia."

Lifetree participants will learn the common symptoms of intimacy anorexia as well as practical treatment options. The program is free and childcare is available at no cost. For information, call 386-451-5223.

Congregation B’Nai Torah hosts interfaith marriage talk

Regardless of religion, when two people begin to share their lives and different religions are involved, the complexities and potential for conflict increase.

"Interfaith Marriages - Problems & Solutions" on Sunday, April 7, at 3 p.m. at Congregation B'nai Torah, 401 N. Nova Road, Ormond Beach, features Dr. Marion Usher, a counselor and author from the Washington DC area, who has counseled hundreds of interfaith couples, conducted workshops and outreach programs.

Usher will lead an interactive presentation designed to focus on the problems encountered in interfaith marriages and how to address them proactively. This workshop is free and open to the public. It will benefit interfaith couples, as well as parents and grandparents of interfaith couples. The event is sponsored by The Ada Siegel Educational Fund of Congregation B'nai Torah and the Jewish Federation of Flagler and Volusia Counties. For information, call 386-672-1174.

DeLand Lifetree Café

Lifetree Café, an adult conversational experience, is sponsored by First Christian Church in DeLand locations. Everyone is welcome and free to participate as much as they want. Coastal Laps for Life at Father Lopez

Coastal Laps for Life will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 13, on the track at Father Lopez Catholic High School, 3918 LPGA Blvd., Daytona Beach.

The event is sponsored by the Florida Council Knights of Columbus, including Our Lady of Hope Council 8086 Port Orange, Epiphany Council 12569 Port Orange, Sacred Heart Council 4934 New Smyrna Beach, Prince of Peace Council 8791 Ormond Beach and Notre Dame Council 10514 Flagler.
