42 lakh acres to lose water if Jagan comes to power: N Chandrababu Naidu

NELLORE: TD chief and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has said that with the arrangement the YSR Congress chief Jagan Mohan Reddy had with Mr KCR, AP would be deprived of water in 42 lakh acres across 62 assembly segments across the state, if Mr Reddy came to power.

He alleged that TS Chief Minister had filed writ petitions to stop Polavaram, Veligonda, Muchumarri and Pothireddipadu and he was keen to have control over Srisailam and Nagarjuna Sagar projects too. “If you vote for Jagan it is a vote for Modi and KCR,” the CM cautioned.

He was addressing a large gathering during his election campaign at Kandukuru in Prakasam district on Saturday. Referring to some YSR leaders behaving like rowdies, he said he will send such people to jail and not allow them to roam around.

According to the Chief Minister, 95 MLA candidates and 12 MP candidates fielded by the YSRC, faced criminal charges. Among them, 9 persons faced cases by CBI, 12 of them faced rape charges, 5 faced theft charges, 5 others faced forgery charges while 5 others had been booked for outraging the modesty of a woman.

Comparing forest minister Mr Sidda Raghava Rao to a tiger and Ongole breed bull for jumping into the fray for Ongole Parliament seat at his request, Mr Naidu took potshots at Mr Magunta Sriniasulu Reddy, YSRC nominee for Ongole seat, for migrating from TD to YSRC. He said Mr Srinivasulu Reddy had told him that he was afraid of contesting because of threats and his family.

“The scared man then went and joined the YSRC and is contesting for Lok Sabha seat with their ticket now!,” the CM said. He also took potshots against former TD leader and YSRC nominee for Nellore Lok Sabha, Mr Adala Prabhakar Reddy for switching over at the last minute. “He ran away from the marriage hall when the time came to tie the nuptial knot,” the CM said amid laughter of the gathering.

He also had a word of praise for TD LS nominee for Nellore, Mr Beeda Masthan Rao for his courage even after IT raids.
