EO reviews Chittoor election arrangements
Tirupati: Chittoor district collector and officer PS Pradyumna announced on Sunday that all political parties and candidates contesting the 2019 polls should wind up their campaigns by 5pm on April 9 and added that section 144 of the CrPC will come into effect across the 14 Assembly constituencies in the district from 6pm on the same day.
Reviewing the arrangements for the poll day in Tirupati, Pradyumna pointed out on Sunday that 90% of voter slips have already been distributed and the rest will be handed out by Monday.
“We have arranged for the best of voter amenities in the 3800 polling stations across the district. Seperate arrangements have been made for voters with special needs, including the physically challenged,” he added.
In a crack-down against the distribution of liquor and poll cash, election officials have so far seized Rs 12.5 crore worth of cash, apart from Rs 2.5 crore worth of liquor.
Officials also said that sensitive locations in the district have been identified and police pickets will be in place at these points to avoid any untoward incident here.
The district collector directed officers on poll duty to ensure the polls in Chittoor are held in a fair manner, and also appealed to voters to cast their votes without fail.
