It's not every day that you run across a rather mint Mercedes-Benz 500E. It's certainly not every day that Rowan Atkinson's 500E is up for sale.

But it is now.

While Mr. Bean is famous for his comedy shtick, he's also well-known in the automotive enthusiast community for being a gearhead. One of the few to have owned and crashed — two times — a McLaren F1, he's gone through that pain and repair two times.

That wasn't his only ride though. He's gone through a variety of vehicles including Bentleys and a Lancia Delta Integrale. The latest to hit the auction block is his twice owned Mercedes 500E. Before the days of AMG this was a tag-team effort between Porsche and Mercedes.

Having said that, I've got to ask: WHICH high-performance sport sedan would YOU want to put in your garage?

For me, it's an E39 BMW M5 in Imola Red with the luxury package and a extended leather Caramel interior that's complemented with Vavona wood trim.



A 1991 Mercedes 500 E is going up for sale in May 2019 at a Classic Car Auctions event. While that isn’t entirely newsworthy, the fact that it’s owned by former CAR columnist makes it interesting to us.

The 500 E is just one of 29 left-hand drive models sold in the UK and comes with a thumping 5.0-litre V8 nestled underneath a not-exactly-showy body. A 0-62mph time of 5.5sec is enough for it to keep up with hyper hatches of today like the Honda Civic Type R and Ford Focus RS...
