AGRA: Following complaints of delay in addressing students’ issues, Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar University has changed its entire staff in the online section. The idea is to redevelop the online system from scratch so it can fulfill its purpose of issuing degree certificates, verifying marksheets and making corrections in academic documents in time. The system was introduced by the university last year, but it hasn’t been effective.
The online section had two permanent and five temporary staff.
The university administration found that the employees were not following instructions and were causing delay in addressing students’ issues. On Tuesday, university registrar KN Singh ordered a change of the entire section.
University public relations officer GS Sharma said, “The change of staff on duty at the online section is an administrative decision, aimed to ensure time-bound action on applications of students. In this regard, responsibilities have been assigned to experienced staffers. Besides, senior officials are working to sort out all the existing flaws in the online system.”
The online system of addressing students’ applications, including the issue of degree certificates and verification of marksheets, was introduced by the university administration on March 1, 2017. However, it failed to benefit the students. A second plan to digitalize records and issuance of degree certificates within 30 days of online application was not implemented.
Last year, to end pendency of applications for degree certificates, the university administration had planned to courier them to those who hadn’t received them. After this, pending degrees of subsequent years were planned for issuance. The decision was taken as the university didn’t have a maintained record of applications.
The university administration had declared that students of the session 2014-15 will be issued degree certificates without any fresh applications or charges. For the purpose, a target to issue 3,000 degree certificates every day was set. However, the target has not been achieved yet.
