Nashik: With all eyes on elections, thieves make merry

NASHIK: Thieves and burglars seem to be having a good time as two cases of thefts, two of vehicle thefts, one case each of robbery attempted burglary were registered with the police on Tuesday.
While the vehicles were reported stolen at Mhasrool and Nashik Road police stations, the robbery case was registered with Gangapur police station. The two theft cases were registered with Indiranagar and Nashik Road police stations.
The attempted break-in incident was also reported with the Gangapur police station on Tuesday.
A bike worth Rs30,000 was reported stolen from Prabhat residency area of Mhasrool. According to the complainant, he had parked his vehicle in the parking area of his building on March 14 from where it was stolen by an unidentified person. Also, a moped worth Rs40,000 was also stolen from Devi Chowk area of Nashik Road at around 1pm on Monday.
Meanwhile, a woman lodged a complaint with Indiranagar police stating that an unidentified autorickshaw driver stole Rs10,000 from her purse. The complainant, a resident of Pathardi Phata, said she took the autorickshaw for travelling from Deepali Nagar to Pathardi Phata on Monday at 8pm when the driver stole the money. The woman however, cannot recollect the number of the autorickshaw.
A 15-year-old boy lodged a complaint with Gangapur police stating that his cellphone worth Rs5,000 was robbed by two unidentified people riding a moped. The complainant was walking from tennis court area in D’souza Colony on Tuesday afternoon when the bikeborne suspects came to him on the pretext of asking something and then snatched the cellphone before fleeing.
The Gangapur police also registered an offence of attempted theft from a house in the Shivaji Nagar area.
