NEW DELHI: A man has been arrested for allegedly harassing and sexually intimidating several children at a colony in Narela. The accused, a shopkeeper, would inappropriately touch children who would come to buy grocery.
Police have received complaints from the parents of four children so far. The man used to force the children to fix meetings with their friends so that he could call them over to his shop after school hours.

The matter came to the fore on Wednesday when a 12-year-old girl told her parents that the man, Naveen, had been harassing her for the past few weeks. He was forcing her to introduce him to her friends at school. When she refused, he allegedly touched her inappropriately.
The child’s father went to Naveen’s house and confronted him. Soon, a few more girls came forward and mentioned harassment by Naveen when they had gone to his shop to buy grocery. He would either call them to his shop to take balance amounts and harass them or try to blackmail them into luring their friends. The parents reported the matter at Narela police station after which Naveen was arrested.
“We have registered a case under POCSO against Naveen. We are trying to identify other victims and take their statements,” said DCP (outer-north) Gaurav Sharma.
