Lok Sabha polls: Union minister bats for efficacy of Dakshina Kannada MP

PUTTUR/SURATHKAL: Union commerce and civil aviation minister Suresh P Prabhu on Monday vouched for the working style of DK MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, both inside and outside the Parliament. It is his persuasive style of functioning that has brought development to the district and the constituency will be well-served with his re-election as MP for a third time, which will also see PM Narendra Modi getting a second term, he said.
Addressing public rallies on behalf of Nalin at Puttur earlier and Surathkal later, Prabhu said, “I have seen Nalin’s work as a parliamentarian. He has done a lot of work as MP, both inside and outside the Parliament. He is always pursuing matters pertaining to his constituency with the ministers concerned and this has resulted in lots of development works being launched in this constituency and he will continue to do so, on re-election as well.”
Referring to his personal equation with Nalin, Prabhu said, “He used to come to fight with me every day. And his fight was always for something to do with railway needs of the district or seeking some facility for Mangaluru airport.” The MP was also particularly proactive on the needs of the farmers growing horticultural crops in general and areca nut in particular and he has approached me with their issues on several occasions, the minister said.
“I am certain that when you have a MP who fights for the right of his constituents, he will bring in development as well,” Prabhu said much to the delight of the party supporters, who were out in full force. Noting that the crowds gathered to listen to PM Narendra Modi here on Saturday was a good indicator of support for the BJP, Prabhu said there is no doubt that the people will support the party in the Lok Sabha elections.
