Temperature to soar upto 45 degree C in Vijayawada
VIJAYAWADA: As maximum temperature across Krishna district and particularly Vijayawada has already crossed the 40 Celsius mark, the government’s Real Time Governance System (RTGS) has raised an alarm, expecting mercury to cross the ‘danger’ mark.
RTGS heat index predicts that Vijayawada Urban mandal would touch 45.2 degree Celsius by April 21 and before that happens, temperature is expected to hover between 42C and 44C.
The RTGS marks this temperature range as ‘extreme caution’.
Around 28 mandals across Krishna district are expected to touch the ‘danger’ mark of 45 degree Celsius by the end of the week. The heat index, based on ISRO’s SDSC-SHAR forecast and NDMA guidelines identify Mandavalli, Pedaparupudi, Nandivada, Gudivada, Bapulapadu and Gudlavalleru regions as those where maximum temperature can touch almost 46 degree Celsius.
Under the danger mark, RTGS warns public of high risk of heatstroke across the region that crosses 45 degree Celsius.
The worst-affected regions in case of a heatwave in Andhra Pradesh would be Nellore and Prakasam districts as temperatures are expected to soar beyond 47 degree Celsius.
There has been a rapid increase in temperature as the trends suggest around 6 degree Celsius increase across all the mandals within the week.
Prakasam would be the worst place to stay in the coming week as 13 mandals would witness temperatures around 46.8 degree Celsius.
Meanwhile, district medical and health officers have stocked up medicines and made other arrangements to tackle the worst in both Vijayawada Rural and Urban mandals.
