JNU decides to accept forms for entrance till Thursday
NEW DELHI: Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) on Monday announced an extension of the deadline from April 15 to April 18 for registration, application and submission of forms for JNU Entrance Examination and Combined Entrance Examination for Biotechnology (CEEB) 2019-20.
The university has also extended the deadline for fee payment from April 16 to 19. JNU said that till Monday, 87,950 students had submitted their application forms and paid the fees for JNUEE 2019-20, “which is a record number of applications received for JNUEE as compared with previous years and still more aspirants are expected to apply.”
The university also said that the total number of candidates who applied for JNUEE in 2017 and 2018 were only 51,818 and 69,605 respectively; and the numbers are the highest this year.

“Considering that a candidate is allowed to apply for up to three programmes of study in a single application, the total number of candidates appearing for the entrance test amounts to 1,65,000. This clearly indicates that the student applicant fraternity has overwhelmingly accepted the proposition of conducting the Computer Based Test,” JNU administration said in its statement.
This claim has been countered by JNU Students’ Union, which stated that even in 2017, the administration had said that they had received a record application and 1,05,000 applicants will sit for the exam. JNUSU alleged that in actuality, the number of applicants have reduced due to seat cuts and non-fulfilment of reservations.
Responding to a story done by TOI on April 14, the administration said that the vendor for the post-exam processing and JRF application registration is a private company that has been working every year since 2015 under the supervision of the JNU Admission Branch.
