Vicky Kaushal to reunite with Uri director Aditya Dhar for period film on Ashwatthama

Vicky Kaushal is all set to reunite with his Uri: The Surgical Strike director Aditya Dhar for a period-war film based on the mythological character Ashwatthama.

The super success of Uri: The Surgical Strike proves that Vicky Kaushal and director Aditya Dhar make a great team. Now, the director-actor duo is all set to kickstart work on their second project together.

According to a report in a daily, Vicky will star in a period-war film that revolves around mythological character from Mahabharata, Ashwatthama. The film will be directed by Aditya.

Talking about the film, a source close to the development told the daily, "After Uri, the makers wanted to return with something big and interesting. Aditya has been working on this script since a long time, even before Uri released, and when he sounded out Ronnie and Vicky, they immediately jumped on board. The film will be mounted on a big scale and will be shot later this year."

Currently, Vicky has some big projects lined-up. The actor will be seen in an untitled horror film. He is also a part of Karan Johar’s high-profile project Takht. Apart from this, Vicky also has Shoojit Sircar’s Udham Singh biopic in his kitty.

"Aditya is already neck-deep in research and will go on a recce soon. The film will be shot all over India and the makers are targetting a mid-2020 release," the source said.

Vicky and Aditya's previous film Uri grossed over Rs 336 crore worldwide. It also become the 10th highest grossing film ever.

Uri is based on the surgical strike carried out by the Indian Army on seven terrorist launchpads across the Line of Control on September 29, 2016. The strikes were performed in retaliation to a terrorist attack on an army camp at Uri earlier that month.
