4 ex-MLAs demand Congress ticket to Muslim candidate

New Delhi: 4 former Muslim members of the assembly have written a letter to Congress president Rahul Gandhi and demanded ticket to Muslim candidate from at least one of the seven Lok Sabha constituencies of Delhi. In a press conference held at a hotel in Daryaganj the four ex-MLAs announced this.

On the letterpad of Shoaib Iqbal who was 5-time MLA from Matia Mahal signed by former MLAs Chaudhry Mateen Ahmed, Hasan Ahmed and Asif Mohammed Khan.

A large number of Muslims live in Delhi. According to census Muslims are 18 pc in Delhi. Out of the 7 seats of Delhi, Muslims are in majority in Chandni Chowk and North-Eastern Lok Sabha assembly.

In the letter, the former Muslim MLAs told that a large number of Muslims reside in Delhi and Muslims have always been with Congress. They added, as the Muslims are being neglected by Aam Aadmi Party, they are once again returning to Congress. In this scenario fielding of any Muslim leader by the Congress is badly needed.
