Welcoming Sooronbay Jeenbekov, Angela Merkel noted that Germany and the European Union know the path of development along which Kyrgyzstan follows, the Kyrgyz President’s press service reported.

“We respect this choice. It is important that the well-being of the people develops and we are ready to assist you in this. Now you have good economic indicators. Growth of 5 percent against the background of global trends is not bad,” said Merkel.

She expressed satisfaction that Kyrgyzstan is on the path of democracy, noting that cooperation in this direction and in other areas will continue.

“I am informed about your request to support cooperatives in the agricultural sector. We can cooperate in this area, provide advice in terms of phytosanitary, food safety, green technologies and quality of agricultural products,” she said.

Merkel expressed hope that the Kyrgyz-German forum, held in Munich, would give impetus to the development of economic ties.

President Jeenbekov expressed appreciation for the invitation to visit Germany with an official visit, noting that Germany is the main partner of Kyrgyzstan in Europe.

He told about his meetings and events held during the official visit during these two days, about the transformations taking place in Kyrgyzstan.

Jeenbekov stressed that in recent years there has been an intensification of political contacts at the highest and high levels, as well as the importance of enhancing Kyrgyz-German inter-parliamentary cooperation.

He appreciated the successful financial and technical cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Germany.

“A Memorandum of Cooperation between our cooperative unions will be signed tomorrow. We are interested in cooperation in the field of agriculture, breeding and seed farming and processing, ”said the President.

Referring to the intensification of trade and economic relations, Jeenbekov named the activation of bilateral trade and economic relations one of the main tasks for the future, inviting German companies to invest in Kyrgyzstan.

I consider it expedient to transform the Kyrgyz-German trade and investment working group into a full-fledged Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation,” he emphasized.

In addition, President Jeenbekov emphasized that ethnic Germans in Kyrgyzstan made a huge contribution to the development of culture and the economy of the country, being bridges of friendship between the two countries.
