AGRA: To attract people to vote on April 18, the district administration has planned to develop 503
model booths in both Agra and
Fatehpur Sikri.
Apart from providing basic amenities, these booths will also be decorated. Election officials said that voters will get a red carpet welcome and arrangements will be made for children to play.
As many as 245 booths in Agra and 258 in Sikri will have special arrangements for the voters.
Some of these booths had recorded less voting percentage during the 2014
Lok Sabha election.
Ramesh Chandra, deputy district election officer, said, “Each model booth will be decorated with flowers and art pieces. Voters will not have to stand under the sun to wait for their turn. Arrangement for shade and seating are being made. All this is being done to encourage people to vote.”
Besides the model booths, the district administration has planned to develop one Sakhi booth in each of the nine assembly constituency of the district. These booths will have all women staff. The move is aimed to encourage women to exercise their franchise.
