Katihar: Katihar has an interesting historical status and a distinguished geographical position for being surrounded by Bangladesh, West Bengal and coastal Nepal at its borders.
But now it has also become the centre of attraction for its political status. Muslims and Yadavs reside in large numbers in this parliamentary constituency. Tariq Anwer is contesting from grand alliance while Dalal Chand Goswami has been fielded by NDA for this seat.
Though the candidacy of NCP candidate Mohammed Shakoor tried to make a triangular war, NDA and grand alliance both are hopeful of winning the seat.
Muslim and Yadav votes are decisive in this parliamentary constituency. Muslims are 41 pc in the region while Yadavs are 11 pc.
