Yuho Mobiles, owned by the Chinese firm UCT, will set up its second plant at Gurugram or Tirupati with an estimated investment of ₹80-100 crore.

“We are currently evaluating proposals on where to locate the facility. We might do it at the existing facility in Gurgram. We are also considering Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh. We will take a call in 90 days,” Keshav Arora, Director (Sales) of Yuho Mobiles, told BusinessLine .

“We have invested ₹100 crore in India so far. This and the additional investments we will make in the new facility will be part of the ₹500-crore outlay we announced for the country. We will deploy the funds in the next two years,” he said.

The company is also looking at exporting the phones to neighbouring countries.

Arora was here to launch the phone range in the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh markets.

Focus on India

The 12-year-old Chinese firm, which does designing and third-party mobile phone manufacturing, has chosen India, not China, to launch its own phone brand — Yuho.

The firm, which launched its phone range 18 months ago, is targeting the price range of ₹6,000-10,000. “We have been launching the phone in phases in different States. We will be a pan-India player by the end of May,” he said.

“In June, when we will become a national player, we hope to sell 50,000 phones a month. We will touch monthly sales of one-lakh phones by December,” he said.

“We are going to introduce 8-9 models by October, helping us improve sales further,” he said.

The Gurgram facility has a capacity to produce 12 lakh phones a year.
