AGRA: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA from Hathras Hari Shankar Mahor on Thursday landed in a controversy after he was caught wearing party’s symbol on his stole while casting his vote at a Primary School, Gaushala booth in Agra.
Talking to TOI, district magistrate Hathras Pravin Kumar Lakshkar said that he has sought the video footage of the polling booth and action would be taken after examining the same.

According to officials, flashing of party symbols at polling booths is a violation of the Representation of the People Act.
Mahor had gone to the booth along with his family members to cast his vote. He entered the booth wearing a badge of BJP’s election symbol “lotus” on his stole.
However, Mahor defended his action saying that he "has the right" to wear it as he is a party MLA. “I always wear this stole so there was nothing new today,” said Mahor.
