Purulia BJP worker found hanging from tree
Purulia: A 22-year-old BJP worker was found hanging from a tree 1.5km from his home at Senabona in Purulia’s Arsha on Thursday.
Sishupal Sahish, who had been engaged in wall writing for BJP’s Purulia Lok Sabha poll candidate Jyotirmoy Singh Mahato in Senabona, went missing after leaving home to answer nature’s call around 5pm on Wednesday. Family and neighbours searched for him in vain.
Women collecting dry leaves on Thursday morning found Sishupal’s body hanging from a tree on the banks of a rivulet, a kilometre from the Purulia-Sirkabadh Road.

A team from Arsha police station had to argue for nearly three hours before residents allowed it to recover the body. They alleged Sishupal was murdered by Trinamool-backed goons. His body was sent to Deben Mahato Sadar Hospital for post-mortem examination.
BJP Bengal general secretary Sayantan Basu said: “TMC is creating an atmosphere of terror in Purulia. We will write to Election Commission, seeking a CBI probe.”
Purulia SP Akash Magharia said: “We have started an investigation after lodging an unnatural death case.”
Sishupal’s father Jadav Sahish (60), a BJP member of Sirkabadh gram panchayat, told police that he suspected his son had been murdered as he was a BJP worker.
