As it comes down to the wire at the Florida Film Festival, some of the brightest spots come out to shine.

Awards Bash (8 p.m.-midnight, Oliver’s Classic Cars, 1116 Solana Ave. in Winter Park, $30) — The time has come to honor the best of the best at this year’s festival. Here’s your chance to find out first who won and get in some quality mingling. Plus there’s a dinner buffet and an hour of open bar included with the ticket.

Sunspots: New Visions of the Avant Garde (9:45 p.m., Regal Winter Park Village, 86 minutes, $12) — Part of attending a film festival is finding the kind of art that is rarely supported with a mainstream wide release. This collection of shorts lets auteurs go wild, following their passion to turn film into poetry, sometimes literally.

Knife + Heart (midnight, Enzian, 105 minutes, $12) — The first words of the description for this French thriller are “Dildo knives.” Those are probably all the words any audience needs to know to determine whether this movie is for them. If you’re intrigued, you won’t be less intrigued to learn this story follows a gay porn auteur as she investigates a string of murders. If you aren’t intrigued, go ahead and sit this one out.
