Democratic candidate Pete Buttigieg has compared supporters of Bernie Sanders with those of President Trump.
Buttigieg made the connection while speaking at a campaign stop in New Hampshire on Friday.
He claims that both camps of supporters include disaffected citizens who seek to change the status quo.

The 37-year-old mayor of South Bend, Indiana drew a parallel between followers of the diametrically opposed politicians, according to The Washington Examiner.
'I think the sense of anger and disaffection that comes from seeing that the numbers are fine, like unemployment's low, like all that, like you said GDP is growing and yet a lot of neighborhoods and families are living like this recovery never even happened. They're stuck,' Buttigieg told high school students in in Nashua, New Hampshire.
'It just kind of turns you against the system in general and then you're more likely to want to vote to blow up the system, which could lead you to somebody like Bernie and it could lead you to somebody like Trump. That's how we got where we are.'
Buttigieg also attempted to draw a distinction between himself and 77-year-old Vermont Democratic socialist, Sanders.
Buttigieg has about 6% support compared to Sanders', 22.5%, according to a recent poll
'Part of running for president is you wind up competing with people that you like or appreciated or admired many years back,' he said about Sanders. 'I don't have the same views on everything that he does.'
Buttigieg has about 6% support compared to Sanders' 22.5%, according to RealClearPolitics' average of polls less than a year before the Iowa caucuses.
The electability question surrounding Sanders' second White House bid will come into greater focus in the coming weeks. Former Vice President Joe Biden, who has blasted Democrats recently for embracing socialism, is expected to launch a campaign this week.
Trump tweeted his prediction on Tuesday that Sanders and Biden would be the final two candidates in the Democratic primary and said he looks 'forward to facing whoever it may be.'
Sanders is emerging as the early Democratic front-runner, raising more money than any of his rivals in the first quarter and taking risks that other contenders have eschewed.
