Here's what Sean Dyche had to say after his team drew 2-2 with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

The Clarets took the lead through Jeff Hendrick before N'Golo Kante and Gonzalo Higuain put the home side in front.

Ashley Barnes then levelled before the interval and Burnley contained Chelsea in the second half to reach 40 points and move nine clear of the Premier League bottom three with three games to play.

We have every word of the Burnley boss' post-match press conference.

You must be proud of your team?

“I’m extremely proud, really, really important we could get that last point, that 40th point, we all know that, very tough place to come to, and I thought they were terrific, the first half an hour they were outstanding.

“We scored a goal but they responded, they go 2-1 up and they’re in control of the game, without doubt. They have so many technically good players, and we had to stay diligent to the cause.

“We did and then we nick a second and the game calmed slightly before half-time.

“I thought we started the second half quite well, but as we know, we’ve had to back in, camp in and defend properly to get that last point. And the players deserve a lot of credit for that.

Thoughts on it being described as anti-football?

“Well, with a £58m wage bill, and making the most of players and trying to find a way to get 40 points in the Premier League, coming to venues like this, I’m pretty pleased to be fair and delighted with the players.

“They’ve been first class, 28 points in 16 games, you can’t anti-football that. I’m telling you now, it’s impossible, you have to play some football to get 28 points in 16 games.

Are you safe now?

“No, I think I work on facts. I believe we’re in a very, very super-strong position but you’ve got to work on facts.

“But that’s a big marker, 40 points, we know where that lives in the Premier League historically, but we’ve got to see it through obviously.

Can you shed any light on what happened at full time?

“I was over clapping our fans, they’ve been amazing, it’s Bank Holiday Monday, we more or less filled it, the club made a gesture as well, which is great, by the time I turned round, there was something going off on the edge of the pitch - I still haven’t worked out what - and I went down the tunnel and it was more of the same.

“In my day, hand bags, man bags, bum bags. I don’t think anything of it.

“We are allowed to get a point every now and again at these places."

Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton speaks to referee Kevin Friend after being shown a yellow card

Chelsea were accusing you of time wasting?

“I believe Tom Heaton’s booking was the earliest in the season for time wasting, and that solves it, so there can’t be any more time wasting.

“That’s our 48th game of the season so if we’ve got players going down with cramp with the amount of injuries we’ve had, a lot of these players have played virtually every minute. I don’t know how you could question that at this stage of the season, especially when the weather turns like this.

Was it good game management?

We do, we haven't got the technical prowess of some of these players. We can't afford the technical prowess of some of these teams so you have to find a way to win games and be successful in the Premier League. I have never hidden behind that, tonight it was to get a point and other times it is to win games. I thought we were excellent at Bournemouth the other week and deserved it. We have had some very good performances and there are nights like this when you have to give everything, every inch. That used to be a really good thing when fans see their team give everything and maybe it still has a place. It does for me.

Thoughts on Ben Mee?

I thought he was excellent. The one he clears off the line in the first half, he does that in training because he doesn't give anything up. He is another marker of the side and it takes a strong mentality to come to places like this against top class groups of players. They are an excellent side and I thought they were excellent tonight in different spells. We had to do whatever we could to get a point and the players deserved it.

Is it hypocritical of Chelsea to criticise game management?

No, they can whatever opinion they want. Every manager, coach player and fan has an opinion and they are allowed one. I have no problem with it. I would love to play 600 pass football and win all the time, like all managers, but it isn't that easy. You have to do what you have to do to win and be successful.

What is your opinion on Sarri encroaching into your dug-out during the game?

I know Gianfranco (Zola) a little bit. He is a fantastic fella, he took over me from Watford and I have always got on with him and he said to me at half time that he (Sarri) is not quite getting it. I said 'he keeps coming over into my thing. It wasn't really bothering me but there has got to be a moment and he said that he does not quite get it, the reality of the technical area. Apparently in Italy they are a lot bigger. He has been here a while mind. I said fine so I accepted it. It wasn't anything to do with us why he got sent off, that was him.

Sarri seemed to exchange words with Ian Woan and staff?

Not with me, I am not sure his (Woan's) language skills are that good. I don't what kind of conversation it would have been but it wouldn't have been a deep one.

Reaction of players and crowd surprise you?

I don't know, they are fighting and want to be as high up the league as they can and be in the Champions League and maybe that gets involved. We can only do what we do and we try and win games. I could equally say that people falling over right in front of me, three yards in front of me, when they had four minutes of pressure after that, where does that live in the modern game? I have to accept that so if you have to accept someone getting cramp now and again and someone getting a whack on the head. I think when Odoi went off we kicked the ball back to their keeper because we try and be fair and be as honest and professional as we can and I think we did that.

Is the player falling over a reference to David Luiz?

Possibly. It is a thing I enjoy in the modern game, I am a big fan of it.

How much work do you put into set pieces?

Not specifically for this game, we have been strong on set pieces and that is another thing we have to do. We think that is an important marker and we have been strong on that all season. We didn't target this game specifically, there are some games but not for this one. It was just a bit of quality in the delivery and in the attacking nature of trying to score a goal.

Burnley’s Jeff Hendrick scores

Good to see Jeff Hendrick on the scoresheet?

It was a great finish and he has worked so hard. People have questioned him at times but they forget that we use him all over the place. We use him right side, in the middle, he has played a number 10. He is so honest and it was nice to see him pop up with a good goal and one that he will remember. He has not got too many but I think there is goals in him and it was a good strike that's for sure.

Hendrick worked well with Lowton?

We knew that. Eden Hazard - what a player so we felt Jeff was right to play there because he doubles up and he has more of a defensive instinct and he has been doing well. We didn't want to mess around with the side too much. We wanted to come here with two strikers which we have done since Christmas everywhere we have gone and we have got some rewards from that. It is a big risk with the players of this quality in their midfield so I am really pleased. And the amount of times he (Hendrick) doubled up to help Lowts and I thought Lowts had a top game because it was very difficult. Eden Hazard is a top, top player

City next up?

40 points makes it just a little bit earlier.

Bardsley?

He was back on the grass and running so he has got a chance of making the squad.
