Denied pocket money, youth shoots father

BAREILLY: After his father denied pocket money to him, an 18-year-old youth shot his father into his stomach with a country-made pistol and fled the scene in Birasin village in Shahjahanpur district on Monday morning.
The victim, Kaptaan Singh (55), was rushed to the district hospital by a Dial 100 team, but doctors referred him to higher centre in Bareilly.
According to police, they are yet to register an FIR as they are yet to receive a written complaint from victim’s kin who are in Bareilly, at present.

Divulging details, Nigohi police station SHO Dalveer Singh said, “Singh was harvesting wheat crop when his youngest son Lakhwichandra approached him for pocket money, but Singh refused to give him money and asked him to work with him in the field. However, Lakhwichandra left and soon returned with a country-made pistol, shot at his father and fled the spot. People working in nearby fields rushed to Singh’s farm and also informed Dial 100 about the incident. A Dial 100 team rushed him to hospital.”
