Gautam Raghuvanshi topped the Uttar Pradesh Board High School exam with 97.17 per cent marks, while Tanu Tomar has secured the first position in intermediate, Class 12 examinations with 97.83 per cent.
This year, 80.07 per cent students cleared the High School (Class 10) exam successfully, while 70.02 per cent cleared the intermediate, Class 12 examination.

Based on the information released by the UP Board, high school students or class 10 students found Hindi to be the easiest subject as it received the highest pass percentage of 80.54 per cent. A total of 23,76,335 candidates clear the exam out of 29,50,442 who appeared for the subject exam.
The 15-year-old from Kanpur topped the Uttar Pradesh High School, Class 10 examination with 583 marks securing 97.17 per cent. Apart from the hard work and self-study, Gautam Raghuvanshi credited the change in the exam pattern of the UP Board which made the paper easy.

Muzaffarnagar registered the best result in UP Board class 10 high school exam with 91.80 per cent pass percentage. In Shamli and Lucknow, 91.4 per cent and 91.26 per cent students cleared the exam and the two recorded second and third best result, respectively.
Tanu Tomar, daughter of a farmer based in Baraut, a town in Baghpat district of Uttar Pradesh has emerged as the topper in the class 12 examination of Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP). She has not only surpassed over 29 lakh candidates who had registered for the UP Board 12th exams 2019 but has also broken last three years’ record.

An allover rise of 4.91 per cent in pass percentage of candidates in class 10 as compared to last year. With a rise of 5.17 per cent in pass percentage of female candidates and 4.39 per cent in male candidates.

She said that her teacher once predicted that she will top the exam. The UP Board results for both high school and Intermediate is out. The candidates need to score a minimum of 35 per cent marks to pass in the examination. The board will conduct the compartmental examinations if a student fails in one subject or two. Those who fail in more than one, they have to repeat the year
Candidates who fail in more than two subjects will be considered fail. Rest have the option to sit for the compartment exam. These students who might get low marks in the UP Board inter exam can apply for the supplementary exam after the declaration of the results.
The results of UP Board secondary and senior secondary are released annually in May, however, from the last year, the result declaration has been preponed. UP Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma had said the results of Class 10 and Class 12 examinations conducted by the state board will be declared this month and the new academic session will commence on April 16.
Among the districts, Muzaffarnagar has secured the top position with 91.8 per cent. Shamil secured the second position, while Lucknow clinched the third spot.
The pass percentage in Shamli is 91.432%, while 91.26% in Lucknow. Mirzapur is the least performing district with 67.64 pass percentage.

Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Siksha Pariksha has also increased the compensation for evaluation, compilation and invigilator duties. For centre administrator, the remuneration has increased from Rs 120 per day to Rs 160 per day, for class inspector the fee has increased from Rs 72 a day to Rs 96 per day among others.
The UP Board of High School and Intermediate Education, Uttar Pradesh has increased the fee for the re-evaluation of exams by as much as five per cent. As per the latest rules, to get one subject paper reevaluated, candidates will have to pay Rs 500 instead of Rs 100 earlier. With this, the UP Board’s reevaluation procedure is the costliest in the country.
This year, a total of 58,06,922 students (31,95,603 in high school and 26,11,319 in intermediate) have registered for the examination. Of which over 6 lakh have failed to appear.

In 2018, a total of 66.37 lakh students registered for the UP Board exams. These include 36,55,691 for class 10 exams and 29,81,327 students for class 12. However, a record total of 11,28,250 students had not appeared for the board exams. In Hardoi, 11,141 students — 3,065 of high school and 8,076 of intermediate — were absent in Azamgarh 8,842 students — 6,754 of intermediate — were absent, Jaunpur 6,330 students — 4,516 of intermediate — and Gonda 6299 students — 4376 of intermediate — did not appear for the exams.

Again in 1997, the Kalyan Singh government passed the Anuchit Saadhan Nivaran Adhiniyam, (ordinance to prevent cheating), and that year the pass percentage fell to 28.1 per cent for Class 10, and 55.3 per cent for Class 12.
A government lost an election for implementing strong measures on cheating. Back in 1992, Kalyan Singh, now Rajasthan Governor, had issued Nakal Adhyadesh, an ordinance on anti-copying which made cheating a cognisable offence.
These measures were implemented 20 years back during the Kalyan Singh government in UP when they had issued an ordinance on anti-copying called ‘Nakal Adhyadesh’. This reduced the pass percentage in the state to 14.7 per cent for Class 10 and 30.4 per cent in Class 12 respectively, the lowest pass percentage till now.
It is for the first time that CCTV cameras were installed in all the 8,549 exam centres. Of these 2,087 centres were red-flagged as sensitive of which 566 centres had been identified as very sensitive while 1,521 are sensitive in terms of copying mafia being active there.
The crackdown by Adityanath recalls similar steps taken by another BJP Chief Minister 27 years ago. In 1992, Kalyan Singh, now the Governor of Rajasthan, issued the so-called Nakal Adhyadesh, or anti-copying Ordinance, which made cheating a cognizable offence. Hundreds of students were detained after they were caught cheating, and the pass percentage crashed to 14.7% for Class 10 and 30.4% for Class 12, the lowest between 1991 and now.
This year, around 6.52 lakh students failed to appear in the examinations with a total of 403 students were caught cheating. The incidents of cheating were reported during the Class 12 Physics examination in Muzaffarnagar where 17 people including 14 invigilators were arrested.
People are also requesting parents to not pressurize or get angry with their child in case his/her result is not upto the expectation.

To pass class 10 examination, a candidate has to secure a minimum of 35 per cent. If he/she fails in any of the subject, then the board will conduct compartment/improvement exam. Dates of these exams will be released after the result declaration.
