Aurangabad young couple jumps before train, girl dies

A 15-year-old girl was crushed to death while her 18-year-old boyfriend seriously injured when they allegedly jumped before a moving train at the Sharnapur level-crossing in Daulatabad, , about 12km from here, on Thursday evening.

AURANGABAD: A 15-year-old girl was crushed to death while her 18-year-old boyfriend seriously injured when they allegedly jumped before a moving train at the Sharnapur level-crossing in Daulatabad, , about 12km from here, on Thursday evening.
According to the Daulatabad police, the young couple fled from their homes in Nizamabad in Telangana after their families opposed their alleged relationship.
They boarded a train from their home town and reached Aurangabad on Wednesday.
The Nizamabad police have booked the boy on the charges of kidnapping, following a complaint from the girl's parents.
The Daulatabad police have registered a case of accidental death and launched a probe. Police inspector Shrikant Saraf said, "The boy is currently undergoing treatment at the Government Medical College and Hospital in Aurangabad."
The officer added that the Nizamabad police will be arriving in the city soon to arrest the boy.
The girl, a std VIII student, and the boy stayed together for a day and proceeded to the Sharnapur level-crossing, said police, adding that the boy is also a student.
Preliminary probe has revealed that the couple feared the consequences they might have to face on returning home, following which they decided to end their lives.

"The young couple jumped before the train and the girl got crushed. Seeing the train arrive fast, the boy got scared and tried to move away but the train brushed past against him, leaving him injured," said an officer privy to the investigation.
They couple was taken to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), where the girl was declared brought dead. Based on the details provided by the injured boy, police contacted their families.
The two families reached Aurangabad on Friday morning, following which an autopsy was conducted on the girl's body before it was handed over to her family.
