40 bikes destroyed in a massive fire in UP's Hardoi

A massive fire broke out in the garbage heap near the gate of RR Inter college in Hardoi on Sunday noon. 40 bikes parked near the college caught up fire and were destroyed. No injury or loss of human life was reported in the incident. The college was the base of security forces to be deployed during Lok Sabha elections in the district.

LUCKNOW: A massive fire broke out in the garbage heap near the gate of RR Inter college in Hardoi on Sunday noon. 40 bikes parked near the college caught up fire and were destroyed. No injury or loss of human life was reported in the incident. The college was the base of security forces to be deployed during Lok Sabha elections in the district.
Police said that garbage accumulated on the side of college gate caught fire due to an unextinguished cigarette butt.
The fire triggered panic in the area leading to closure of shops.

According to the police, around 12 pm, locals spotted fire in the garbage heap and then informed the police. District Magistrate Hardoi Pulkit Khare said that within ten minutes of information six fire tenders were pressed into service which doused the flames in forty minutes.
However, in the meantime, the fire caught in the bikes parked and destroyed the entire fleet of 40 bikes. The chief fire officer of the district has been asked to give a detailed report about the incident, Khare said.
