TIRUVARUR: Computer and other equipment at the Mannargudi Head Post Office were damaged on Monday as a postal staff allegedly went on a rampage at the office.

Inquiries reveal that the suspect, Raj (33) of Tirunelveli, attached to the HPO and now on deputation to Pothakudi post office, came to the HPO on Monday morning and started smashing the glass panes of the counters and also the computer and other equipment.

When the postal staff attempted to catch him he threatened them with broken pieces of glass. He was overpowered and caught by the Mannargudi police who rushed to the HPO on hearing about the commotion. He was arrested based on a complaint lodged by the senior postal official, Shanmugam, sources said.
