GHAZIABAD: A 16-year-old school dropout along with his minor friend had been stalking five girls, students of class IX and X, for the past one month. On Monday, mothers of the girls also boarded the train with them, nabbed the minor and handed him over to the police.
The two youths would board the train from Sahibabad railway station from where the girls used to take the train and harass them throughout their journey to Kotwali, where the girls’ government school is situated.

Their parents came to know of the incident after the girls started hesitating to go to school.
Of five girls, three of them are of class X and two of class IX. Two of them are also sisters.
“The accused had been quite abusive and would pass lewd comments all the time. They would ask us to sit next to them in the train, and when we would not respond they would talk over phone and talk about abducting us," the girls said.
"Initially, we did not give much attention to them, but this perhaps made them bolder in their misbehaviour. After getting down at Ghaziabad railway station they would follow us to our school. We did not know how to respond to their behaviour,” they added.

The mother of one of the girls said she came to know about the harassment only on Friday when her daughter refused to go to school. On prodding, she revealed her ordeal. Her friends too told their parents about it.
On Monday, mothers of the girls also boarded the train and kept a watch on their girls. The two miscreants, as usual, made comments and harassed the daughters. After getting off at the railway station, the group of women blocked their path and confronted them. “One of them was so insolent that he started arguing with us and said he had just reached Ghaziabad from Dehradun. His accomplice, however, managed to flee from the spot,” a mother said.
Police control room was subsequently called and the accused was handed over to the police. Efforts are also being made to nab the second accused boy.
Kotwali SHO Jay Karan Singh said the minor would be produced before a juvenile justice board for stalking the girls.
