Rewa Ready: Rabo

I’m very open minded with them and make sure that they make good decision on the ground. I tell them that they can make three passes, but it’s always the right pass which will make the difference. When coming to tournament they are always four to five players in the team which can take the games in their own hands

All games will be treated as a final by defending champs of the Vodafone Fiji FACT Rewa.

The Delta Tigers play Nasinu in the opening match at the 2019 tournament at Churchill Park, Lautoka at 1.30pm.

Former Suva and national rep Pita Rabo has been looking after the team for the last month and is confident of a good outing.

Rabo said he has prepared the boys according to what he believe is needed for them to be ready for this tournament.

“I’m confident the boys will produce results given the way they have been training under my leadership,”’Rabo said.

He said training in Suva was minimal due to the wet weather which was why they came to the west”.

“We train in Nadi so the boys can get use to playing in the heat.

“The players are determined seeing the hard work they are putting into training and I know the boys are ready to go.

“We have taken huge step since we lost heavily to Lauoka and Nadi.

“My first league game with the boys was when they played Suva where we won and going from there to this tournament which will be a big step for the team.

“But knowing that we were able to beat Suva has set a platform for us and we will treat all the games as the final.

Defence key

“My focus is on defence. That’s how we beat Suva in the Vodafone Premier League.

“I am working very hard with our defenders.

New Coach

“I’m very open minded with them and make sure that they make good decision on the ground.

I tell them that they can make three passes, but it’s always the right pass which will make the difference.

“When coming to tournament they are always four to five players in the team which can take the games in their own hands.

“And I believe I have those players with me, one of the key players I am focusing on is our team captain Amani Makoe who has been playing a big role in organizing our defence.

“Setareki Hughes will be a player to watch in the tournament and he is known as a deadly striker.”
