BENGALURU: Criminal Investigation Department (CID) sleuths probing the mysterious death of a 21-year-old engineering student in Raichur have collected Kannada handwriting samples of the girl from her II PU final exam answerscripts.
The decomposed body of the civil engineering student, from a private college, was recovered from forests located on the outskirts of Raichur. The body was hanging from a tree and a suicide note in Kannada, suspected to be written by the girl, was recovered nearby.
Initially, CID sleuths approached the girl’s family and college authorities for samples of her handwriting.
“But there was no such sample. For the purpose of tallying in cases like this, the investigating team needs at least 5-10 pages of the victim’s handwriting. After making a futile attempt with the family and college authorities, we knocked on the doors of the PU board and took photo copies of her answersheets written in Kannada. Now, the same samples will be sent to handwriting experts in the forensic science laboratory,” police sources said.
Not only handwriting, the psychological condition of the writer too can be analysed by studying the handwriting, a senior cop said. “Handwriting reflects the human mind. Also, a deep scientific study can tell whether the handwriting was that of the victim or was it an attempt at copying it,” another police said.
