Coimbatore: Son of deceased Martin firm staffer wants fair probe

Palanisamy had left home on Friday morning saying he was going to office, but did not return.

Coimbatore: Even as the cashier of Martin's lottery firm was found dead in a pond under mysterious circumstances in suburbs of Coimbatore, the son of the deceased person on Saturday demanded a fair probe into his father's death.

Police sources said that Income Tax (I-T) officials had raided the house of Palanisamy, 45, working as cashier in Martin's firm, at Urumandampalayam couple of days back, after which he was found dead in a pond near Karamadai-Veliyankadu. Palanisamy had left home on Friday morning saying he was going to office, but did not return. Initially, Rohind Kumar, son of Palanisamy, alleged to the media on Friday that he was witness to the I-T officials assaulting his father, which raised doubts whether his father's death was a case of suicide or homicide. However, on Saturday, Rohind presented a petition to the chief judicial magistrate Mr. Nagaraj, saying that he suspected the possible role of two of his father's colleagues at his office in the death of Palanisamy, adding, a fair probe was called for.
