PATNA: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address election rallies at Sasaram and Buxar on May 14 and at Paliganj in the Pataliputra parliamentary constituency the next day, state BJP spokesman Nikhil Anand said.
The NDA partners have opted to make big thrust to retain all the eight seats in the last phase of the parliamentary elections on May 19 as PM Narendra Modi would address three rallies and BJP national president Amit Shah would conduct a roadshow in Patna over four days, beginning May 11.

With respect to Shah’s roadshow at Patna pertaining to the Patna Sahib seat on May 11, senior BJP leader Nand Kishore Yadav said the party president would hold around 1km-long roadshow from Kadamkuan Durga Mandir to Udyog Bhavan near Gandhi Maidan, passing by Sahitya Sammelan, Thakurbari Road and Bakarganj localities. The road show would start at 4pm.
The eight seats to have polling in the last phase are Nalanda, Patna Sahib, Pataliputra, Ara, Buxar, Sasaram, Karakat and Jehanabad. Of them, the BJP had won five seats – Union ministers Ram Kripal Yadav (Pataliputra), R K Singh (Ara), Ashwini Kumar Choubey (Buxar) and Chhedi Paswan (Sasaram). Shatrughan Sinha had won Patna Sahib on the BJP ticket but has now joined the Congress and is in the fray from its side. The BJP has fielded Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad to retain the seat.
Of the remaining three seats, Kaushalendra Kumar from JD(U) is fighting against Ashok Kumar Azad from Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) to retain it. Interestingly, RLSP chief Upendra Kushwaha and his nominee Arun Kumar had won the Karakat and Jehanabad seats respectively in alliance with the BJP on the “Narendra Modi wave” in 2014.
However, this time around, Kushwaha is with the Grand Alliance, while Arun is in fight at Jehanabad as an Independent against Chandeshwar Rajvanshi from the JD(U) and Surendra Yadav of RJD. Congress nominee at Sasaram is former Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar.

Incidentally, quite near the point from which Shah’s roadshow would start is located the ancestral building of Shatrughan Sinha. “It is a mere coincidence that his ancestral house is located nearby,” Yadav said.
He also said members of various trade organizations would stand with their banners all along the way, while a large participation of women and youths would also be there. “Shah’s roadshow is symbolic. It wants to give out a message that the party has the support of youths and all other sections of society. The party also wants to point out that it is against the politics of lies being played out by the Congress and the RJD,” he added.
Sinha has the support of the other Grand Alliance partners — RJD led by Lalu Prasad, RLSP, HAM (Secular) headed by former CM Jitan Ram Manjhi and Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) led by Mukesh Sahni, who separately could pool together their caste-based loyalists in his favour, besides the support of Muslims.
