Official Kazakh statistics reveal urban, countryside poverty levels

The committee of statistics of Kazakhstan has disclosed the April 2019 statistics regarding the poverty level in the country, as well as price changes and the latest living wage levels, Trend reports via the press office of the committee.

A significant difference in incomes of people who live in cities and of people who live countryside is observed. The percentage of townspeople with income below living wage amounted to 3.9 percent, whereas the percentage of villagers with income below living wage equals 5.3 percent.

The poverty level in countryside is 1.4 times more than in town. In the structure of families with income below the living wage 60 percent accounts for families of five or more people.

The level of inflation in January-April 2019 amounted up to two percent. Both food and non-food products have grown in price.

The prices of vegetables have significantly increased. The price of bell pepper has increase by 19 percent, of onion by almost 17 percent. The price of white cabbage has doubled. Only the price for potato has decreased by 7 percent. The increase of price is observe in fruits, flour, rice, pastry, bread, pasta and so on.

The price increase of clothes and footwear, as well as of medical supplies, cleaning materials, office supplies, household equipment is also observed.

The prices of solid fuel have increased by 4 percent, of gasoline by 2.1 percent and of diesel fuel by 1.4 percent.
