ALAPPUZHA: Chengannur police arrested a youth for forcefully grabbing the hands of a girl student.
According to the police, the accused has been identified as Sumesh, 30 from Sumesh Bhavan, Kanihanelloor, Cheppad here.
He was arrested recently after the girl, a student at a private college in Chengannur, filed a complaint with the police.
As per the complaint, the accused, a private bus driver, proposed to her on Wednesday evening by grabbing her hand forcefully while she was waiting for a bus at the bus stop in Chengannur. The girl said he used to stalk her and made her uncomfortable for quite some time.
She had also warned him on a couple of occasions earlier in Kayamkulam and Mavelikara.
The accused has been remanded by Chenga-nnur Court to judicial custody, the police said.
